This two-hour event aims to bring research outside the university to a broader audience, while providing a forum for people to meet and exchange ideas across traditional humanities disciplines.
The line-up for Tuesday September 12 is as follows:
- Iris Haukamp (Tokyo University of Foreign Studies): "The Golden Sixties, Zombies, and Sarariiman: Film as Social Commentary"
- Yuko Kamei (Artist in Tokyo): "Abstract Thinking and Materiality"
- Dylan McGee (Nagoya University): "Texts in Transit: The Daiso Lending Library (1767-1899) and its Readers"
- Koji Yamamoto (University of Tokyo): "Taming Capitalism Before its Triumph"
The event will take place at "Good Heavens" (グッドヘブンズ) bar, five minutes' walk from the south exit of Shimokitazawa station (see below for a map).
Tokyo Humanities is free and not ticketed. However, the bar asks that you buy at least one drink. Please see our webpage for more details: http://www.tokyohumanities.org/cafe.html.
