If you are free Monday, January 29th, 2018 (7:30 pm), please come to the third "Tokyo Humanities Cafe" event at "Good Heavens" bar in Shimo-kitazawa.
Four humanities practitioners give informal 10-15 minute English-language talks about their research each followed by q and a.
Our speakers this time are: Myles Chilton (Nihon University)
"Amateur, Professional, Passionate, Useless: The Humanities and Those Who Teach Them" Sheila Cliffe (Jumonji Gakuen Women's University)
"Tracing Trends and Opening the Kimono Closet" Barnaby Ralph (Seikei University)
"Maki Ishii and the Japanese Avant Garde" Aki Toyoyama (Kindai University)
"Majolica Fever from Japan: The National Landscape in Colonial India" Talks are all pitched at a general audience and the event is FREE (please just buy at least one drink at the bar).
You can find more details, and photos of previous cafes, on our website and Facebook event page. **What is Tokyo Humanities? Founded in late 2016 to promote humanities study in Tokyo and encourage links between researchers and the public, we maintain an online calendar of lectures in Tokyo, a "cafe" series, and "Quick Questions" interviews with researchers.
